UK Minister Kemi Badenoch Visits Nigeria to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Kemi Badenoch, the United Kingdom’s Minister for Business and Trade, has arrived in Nigeria for a three-day working visit aimed at deepening the partnership between the UK and Nigeria.

Accompanied by Helen Grant, the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria, Badenoch will engage in discussions with the Federal Government, state governors, and leaders from both British and Nigerian business communities.

The visit aims to explore investment and trade opportunities across various sectors, including education, infrastructure, and energy, with the potential to generate thousands of jobs.

Badenoch’s agenda includes efforts to enhance the UK-Nigeria partnership, address trade barriers, promote business growth between the two nations, and facilitate easier access to the City of London for international business, particularly from Nigeria.

Prior to her visit, Badenoch gained attention during her bid for Prime Minister in 2022 when she criticized Nigerian politicians for misusing public funds. Reflecting on her upbringing in Nigeria, she expressed frustration over unfulfilled political promises and pledged to bring ambition and accountability to her political career in the UK.
